Water at KemertonEarly studies have shown there are sustainable water supplies in an underground aquifer at Kemerton. The studies indicate a draw of up to 12 gigalitres per year could be extracted subject to relevant approvals. The level of actual extraction which will be allowed is currently being studied by the State Government’s Department of Environment. Alternative supplies of water could be sustained from the Brunswick River Dam, Harvey Dam and the Wellington Dam. WastewaterThe Water Corporation manages all public wastewater (sewerage) schemes in the South West and operates and maintains 20 wastewater treatment plants. The wastewater treatment plant at Kemerton services the Australind and Eaton residential areas and provides water for industry needs. |
